Fold formed pin with applied gold leaf highlights. The metal is folded tightly and then unfolded just like paper. The technique has been extensively explored and written about by Canadian metal smith, Charles Lewton Brain. It requires folding, rolling through a rolling mill to get very sharp definition of the lines and repeated annealing,to soften the metal in between folding, in order to further unfold it. I was primarily interested in trying the technique with the patinaed surfaces. Similar pieces are shown below.
